On April 27, the celebration of the 2023 "May 1st" International Labor Day and the commendation conference for the National May 1st Labor Medal and the National Worker Vanguard Award were held in Beijing. Two comrades from Conch Cement, Liu Xiuhua and Tu Wanfu, were awarded the "National May 1st Labor Medal" by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.
Liu Xiuhua, a male member of the Communist Party of China, was born in October 1966. He joined the Conch Group in August 1988 after starting his career and currently serves as the Executive Deputy General Manager of Anhui Conch Kawasaki Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. He has received honors such as the "National May 1st Labor Medal" and the "National Model Worker in the Building Materials Industry." Committed to the frontline of equipment production, Liu Xiuhua has dedicated himself to promoting the upgrading of the cement equipment industry. He has led his team in independently developing a complete set of equipment for cement production lines, including various specifications of C-KSV new-type suspension preheaters, large-scale roller presses, fourth-generation grate coolers, rotary kilns, and cement mills, which have been promoted and applied in over 70 cement enterprises. He has vigorously carried out industry-academia-research cooperation, collaborating with scientific research institutes to develop new wear-resistant ceramic products, breaking through foreign technology blockades and ending the long-term reliance on imported wear-resistant ceramic products in the domestic market.
In his daily work, Liu Xiuhua pays special attention to playing a demonstrative and leading role. He took the initiative to establish the provincial-level "Liu Xiuhua Model Worker Innovation Studio," leading its members to study theory and delve into technology. They have obtained 164 patents, including six invention patents, and cultivated over 100 intermediate and senior engineers, technicians, and skilled workers. In 2021, under his leadership, the company completed the manufacturing and assembly of Anhui's first exported tunnel boring machine. In 2022, Liu Xiuhua's advanced deeds and technological achievements were exhibited at the First Great Craftsmen Innovation Exchange Conference. In recent years, under his influence and leadership, the respect for knowledge, adoration for innovation, and cost reduction and efficiency enhancement have become prevalent throughout Haichuan Equipment Company. Multiple individuals have received honors such as "Annual Figure of Anhui Craftsmen," "Wuhu City Model Worker," and "Conch Craftsmen."
Tu Wanfu, a male member of the Communist Party of China, was born in April 1981. He enlisted in the army in December 2000 and joined Conch Group in June 2010. Currently, he serves as the Executive Deputy Manager of the Mine Branch of Bashu Conch Cement Co., Ltd. and has received honors such as "Chongqing City Labor Model" and "Zhongzhou Craftsman 2019 Annual Figure." During his military service, he was awarded the first place in the group army competition twice consecutively, the third-class award for outstanding non-commissioned officers in the entire army, and was awarded the third-class merit twice.
Since December 2008, after retiring from the military, Tu Wanfu has carried forward the spirit of "remaining unchanged after retirement" and maintained a rigorous, pragmatic, and conscientious work style. He has strengthened his learning and delved into technology, obtaining qualifications such as electrical automation engineer and senior engineer. During his work at Chongqing Conch, he actively utilized his professional knowledge to carry out "minor modifications and innovations," reforming the cement pier and leading the development of an automatic cement bagging and loading machine, which not only improved shipping efficiency but also reduced the labor intensity of employees.
In July 2020, Tu Wanfu voluntarily applied to work in Tibet, fulfilling his vow to "go to the toughest places and the places where the motherland needs the most." He led his team to overcome difficulties and successfully achieved the goals of putting Bashu Conch cement mills into operation, meeting standards, and operating efficiently and stably. Comrade Tu Wanfu has earnestly implemented the party's strategy for governing Tibet in the new era, strengthened communication and exchanges with Tibetan employees, and devoted himself to teaching them knowledge and skills, cultivating over 20 Tibetan maintenance professionals. While performing his daily duties, he is also enthusiastic about public welfare causes, regularly visiting and consoling farmers and herdsmen around the company, helping them solve issues related to production and life, and putting the concept of national unity and closeness into practice.
For a long time, Conch Cement has actively promoted the spirit of labor models, the spirit of labor, and the craftsmanship spirit. It has vigorously recognized and promoted advanced models, played a demonstrative and leading role, and cultivated a new generation of Conch employees who have ideals and beliefs, understand technology and innovate, dare to take responsibility, and are dedicated. It is reported that many units and individuals affiliated with the company have been recognized this year. Guangyuan Conch won the Sichuan May 1st Labor Medal, Fenyi Conch won the Jiangxi May 1st Labor Medal, Dong Xiumei of Haichuan Equipment was named the National May 1st Female Labor Model, Wang Xianjun of Jiande Conch was awarded the Craftsman of the National Machinery, Metallurgy, and Building Materials Industry, and Guo Lunxiang and Yang Wanli of Zunyi Conch were honored as the Most Beautiful Workers in Guizhou Province. The atmosphere of "labor is glorious, creation is great" has become prevalent in the company.
